why work with me?
Welcome! My name is Tamer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in disability rights, substance use recovery, community health, Muslim mental health, and LGBTQIA+ centered care. I believe in person-centered approaches to understand the role that stories play in shaping our everyday lives. My work draws from Narrative therapy, which allows us to examine how these stories show up in the context of anxiety, stress, depression, and trauma. Most importantly, I create a safe, compassionate space where your full self is seen, heard, and valued without judgment or shame.
Therapy with me is most driven by empathy, direct and honest communication, and intentionality. I actively seek your feedback on how our time together can be improved or modified to better meet your needs. This open-door policy helps me privilege your needs and support the deep, lasting change you wish to make. Therapy is an investment of your time, energy, and resources, so I genuinely strive to earn your trust and help achieve the possibilities that you desire.
I am also a published poet and storyteller who believes in the power of self-expression to confront the adversities that life throws our way. Through creativity, I have embraced my own healing journey and redefined what it means for me to identify as an Arab-American Muslim from Stockton, California. Together, we will harness your ideas, skills, beliefs, and experiences to rewrite the story you want to live.
